This jacket is Sasu Kauppi’s interpretation of the fringejacket, an emblem of the love generation. Made of firm cotton drill, this rare jacket is filled with details true to the design philosophy of its designer. The deep black color brings out the seams which have been finished using a signature stitch in white created by Kauppi. The loose front of the jacket is dominated by multiple raw-edged, interfaced strips of fabric, that go on to the oversized sleeves. The front has two chest pockets, which are an embodiment of Kauppi’s playful virtuoso take on pattern making. The front also has a button stand , which is partly hidden underneath the fringes. This doesn’t mean that this detail is something one would want to keep hidden, however, as the thick white stitches have been made paying extreme attention to detail. The same stitch has also been used to neatly attach the collar to the jacket. Armholes have been finished with a cuff, which has been coverstitched to attach it to the rest of the sleeve.
